When you have a large printing job, offset printing often provides the best results. Thomas Group Printing is a trusted name in commercial printing, working with some of the world’s most innovative companies.
Since 1912, we’ve honed our craft, and while offset or lithographic printing has a history predating our company, it continues to be a top choice for high-quality, detailed printing at large volumes.
Whether it’s a bulk run of menus for a waterfront restaurant or thousands of brochures for a regional tourism campaign, Thomas Group Printing serves Buffalo’s offset printing needs with expertise, efficiency, and free delivery.
Offset printing is perfect for large-volume projects. Unlike digital printing, which maintains a consistent cost per piece regardless of quantity, offset printing becomes more affordable as you print more. While there is an initial setup cost for creating printing plates, this cost is offset by the reduced cost per piece in larger runs.
For projects requiring thousands of copies, offset printing is often the more economical and efficient option. Not sure if offset is the right choice? Our knowledgeable press team can guide you.
Offset printing, sometimes called lithography, starts by transferring the image to be printed directly onto a printing plate using a computer-to-plate method. This eliminates the need for older techniques, like film negatives, speeding up the process and improving accuracy.
Typically, images are separated into CMYK colors for precision. We recommend submitting your files in CMYK format to optimize results – contact our team if you need help with this. From the plates, the image transfers to a flexible rubber sheet, which then rolls ink onto the paper.
This process creates sharp, consistent images at high speeds and large volumes, unmatched by digital printing for these needs. Modern offset printing has also advanced to rival digital printing in precision and flexibility.
Offset printing is ideal for high-volume products such as reports, catalogs, magazines, posters, and books. Orders exceeding 2,500 pieces are especially well-suited to this method. We frequently use offset printing for:
The large paper sheets used in offset printing mean we can handle oversized products as well. Options include full-color or spot-color printing, coatings for added protection, and various paper stocks. Custom finishing services – like saddle-stitching, folding, or binding – allow you to tailor the final product to your needs.

“I was thrilled to find Thomas Group Printing! They worked with me and my client on an intricate, 7 file gala invite, insert & envelope. They helped us determine the perfect stock for the project, were patient during edits, and were able to quickly send hard copy proofs which were essential to such a large, nuanced project.
So happy to have a new brick and mortar printer who has friendly, thorough customer service!” – Meghan J.
“What a delight finding the real deal with Thomas Group Printing. After a botched “internet” plug and play print job of my brochure, I was nervous to go with someone new. I was comforted by knowing Thomas Group at least has a real address unlike the PO Box of some of these online printers who send their jobs oversees…
What a gem Thomas Group is!!! From the initial convo to the quick delivery. The brochures themselves are beautiful!! Top notch company who I am already working on a new project with.” – Ann F.
